FAQ - Radiologist

Do I have to commit to working exclusively with Telerays?

No. We welcome all qualified radiologists to work with us as much as they choose. You can use Telerays to earn additional income along with your current commitments. It is a great way to start a free-lance enterprise with minimal risk.

Does Telerays provide the software and hardware I need to work with the Telerays system?

Yes. We work with you to establish and maintain connectivity with our radiology auction and our virtual reading room. Our dedicated team of professionals is available to help.

We can provide the PACS System hardware for purchase or lease

How does the Telerays radiology auction work?

Our clients post their requests for radiology interpretations. All pre-qualified radiologists receive an email invitation to bid. The radiologist who provides the lowest bid for the packet of radiology interpretations before the auction ends, wins the contract. Here is a flowchart of the process.

Example of a work sequence:

  • Chicago imaging center posts a request for interpretations:
    • 100 MRI Studies
    • Requested between 8am – 5pm, M-F from Nov. 1 –30
    • 24hr turn-around for final reports per study
  • Radiology group in Des Moine has been pre-approved by the Chicago imaging center
    • Provides lowest bid / wins the contract in the auction
    • Receives posting of cases in Telerays Reading Room during the month
    • Downloads each case, interprets and uploads final report
  • Chicago imaging center downloads each final report / places in patient’s medical record
  • Telerays provides Des Moines group the full payment according to the contract terms once the 100th case is finalized and accepted by Chicago imaging center.

How is payment processed for work completed in the Telerays virtual reading room?

You provide the lowest bid for the radiology interpretations services requested in the Telerays auction.  You receive the contract to interpret those studies and satisfactorily complete the terms of the contract.

We collect payment from the hospitals and imaging centers according to the parameters of the contract and electronically forward payment directly to you.

Do doctors receive any cost benefits for working with Telerays?

Yes. No need to employ a billing service for your work. We process and provide payment electronically direct to you.

FAQ - Hospitals and Imaging Centers

What are the qualification standards for doctors on the Telerays network?
Telerays’ credentialing process assures you that you work with highly qualified radiologists. Telerays is HIPAA compliant. All doctors must be pre-approved by the hospital or imaging center client before they are admitted to the radiology auction. If desired, clients may also select a specific doctor within the network and work directly with that doctor without openly bidding projects.

Will I receive the turn-around I need for my interpretation?
Absolutely. When you supply the time frame you require, your request is posted within the real-time auction. All radiologists approved by you are invited to accept and bid on the project as you requested. The lowest bid is accepted by you and awarded the job.

Telerays quality control managers monitor the system to ensure compliance with parameters stipulated at the time of the radiology auction such as report turnaround times.

What kind of savings can I expect on Telerays?
Telerays eliminates the duplication of preliminary reports that are often given during off-hours. All reports are final and can save you the cost of preliminary reporting. Doctors are free to charge whatever fee they desire and can often charge less than what you would usually pay with suppliers in your area.

Do you provide specialists and general practioners?
Yes. Telerays contracts with radiologists proficient in all specialties. We will match the most qualified radiologist to your specific case and allow them to bid on your interpretation. You will give final approval for the radiologist and the bid.
